Purpose

The purpose of the course is to ensure that air cargo is loaded and restrained in loose cargo holds so as to ensure it can be transported by air without risk of damage to itself, other freight or the aircraft.
The course is predominately aimed at the airport ramp staff but is useful for others working on airport.

What you obtain

The course provides an awareness of the principles of air cargo handling and loading.  
It covers:

  1. Acceptance of goods - what should the ramp personnel pay attention to.

  2. Aircraft structure - restraints and considerations when loading

  3. Loading - limitations and basic principles

  4. Restrain - basic restraint principles

  5. Special loads - e.g. animals and perishables

Note: Customised modules containing specific company procedures, and only accessible by that companies employees, can be created for a one time flat fee.

Course Qualification and Recognition

The course has no competent authority recognition but is based on the following publication:

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) Airport Handling Manual.

 

A certificate is issued on successful completion of the course questionnaire and the qualification is valid for THREE YEARS.

Who Should Attend?

The course is highly recommended for airline, or airline ground handling personnel involved with the loading of air cargo and passengers baggage into loose cargo holds.

 

Level of Competency

No previous knowledge or experience is required to complete the course.  A basic level of english comprehension is required.
