Transporting Batteries by Air (incorporating Lithium batteries)

Purpose

If you send batteries, particularly lithium batteries by air then this is the course for you. This course assists shippers of batteries, including lithium batteries on their own, and in or with equipment, to interpret and apply the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR) to shipments being sent by air domestically and internationally.
Full compliance with the Regulations and an understanding of the concepts behind them, and the associated Australian legislation, will ensure the safety of all who travel and protect shippers from unknowingly committing unlawful acts.

This short course will help you apply the:

  • classification;
  • identification;
  • packing;
  • marking;
  • labeling; and
  • documentation

requirements of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations with regard to a range of batteries types, and understand the requirements set down by the Regulatory authorities.

This course also covers:

  • Lithium Ion batteries (including in and with equipment);
  • Lithium metal batteries (including in and with equipment);
  • Batteries wet non-spillable; and
  • Batteries dry

Access to a copy of the current IATA DGR, whilst not required, is however recommended.
