Information
Dangerous
Goods and Air Travel:
Most dangerous
goods can be transported safely by air provided that they are properly
identified, packed, marked, labelled and documented.
Hidden
Dangerous Goods
Declared shipments of dangerous goods transported by air rarely
cause a problem. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia
estimate that on a worldwide basis only 1% of dangerous goods accidents
or incidents are attributed to declared shipments. It's the undeclared
stuff that has the potential to kill. Click
here to find out more about Hidden Hazards.
Passenger
and Crew Baggage Allowance
Some items classified as dangerous goods, eg. perfume, aerosols
and some medical preparations, are permitted in passenger's baggage.
The baggage must travel on the same aircraft as the passenger. Click
here to find out more about Baggage Allowances.
